History
The community derives its name from the pioneering family that initially established residence along Purcell's Cove Road. Originating from Terence Bay, the original Jollimore clan sought closer proximity to urban amenities. Recognizing the advantages of the ferry service operating across the North West Arm, they obtained authorization to transport passengers on their vessel. It wasn't until the year 1902 that the locality received its official designation as Jollimore Settlement. Subsequently, on January 1, 1969, it was incorporated into the municipal boundaries of the City of Halifax.
